THIS HAS BEEN AN EXTREMELY CHALLENGING YEAR PERSONALLY, PROFESSIONALLY, SOCIALLY, AND POLITICALLY.
AS SUCH, IT IS IMPORTANT TO ME TO MAKE CLEAR WHERE I STAND:
BLACK LIVES MATTER HERE
TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN HERE
INDIGENOUS SOVEREIGNTY MATTERS HERE
WOMENS' BODIES ARE THEIR OWN HERE
LGBTQ+ PEOPLE ARE VALID AND REAL HERE
ARMENIAN LIVES MATTER HERE
SCIENCE MATTERS HERE
IF ANY OF THESE TRUTHS ARE AT ODDS WITH YOURS WE DO NOT LIVE IN THE SAME WORLD.
CONSIDER THESE IF YOU WISH TO ENJOY THE WORK I DO SINCERELY.
SERGIO AUGUSTO, TENOR
"...vigorous, convincing and impassioned. Augusto can turn from ardency to melancholy with ease..."
- Claire Seymour, operatoday.com
"Sergio Augusto ... has generous lyricism allied to a voice of warmth and lots of light and shade."
- Alexander Campbell , classicalsource.com
Hello there! I'm Sergio. I was born in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. From an early age I was inclined to storytelling and performing.
I moved to Vancouver, Canada after finishing high-school to study theatre. Soon after that I started voice lessons and as I'm fond of saying it all snowballed from there.
My love for Opera comes from my love of acting, words, stories, and the gamma of human emotion. I have a zealous admiration for what composers, librettists, and stagecraft have achieved in this artistic tradition.
To me the operatic art form is the culmination of human communication. So I must be part of it, in no uncertain terms.
